HTC denies copying Apple
Following the release of HTC’s One A9, the company has hit out against claims that the phone is a design rip-off of Apple’s iPhone.
The design similarities have been heavily pointed out since the phone’s launch on Tuesday, withVlad Sayov of The Verge calling the phone “a blasphemous concoction of Apple design and Google software that makes for a very nice phone” and “the most blatant and highest-profile iPhone ripoff since Samsung’s original Galaxy S.”
Responding to the claims, HTC’s president of North Asia Jack Tong reportedly said: “We’re not copying. We made a uni-body metal-clad phone in 2013. It’s Apple that copies us in terms of the antenna design on the back.”
The HTC One A9 has a 5-inch screen, and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It also comes with a 4MP front-facing camera and a 13MP rear camera.
